Tips for How to Roll a Wrap

You want to have a good 1-2 inch area of empty space around the exterior of your fillings… But also be sure to not load up the toppings too high.

Fold the ends of the tortilla over the short ends of the lettuce leaves. Then starting on one long edge, roll the wrap like a burrito tucking in the ends as you roll.

The final product should be one equally portioned cylinder with the ends completely tucked inward.

Repeat with the remaining ingredients. Cut each wrap down the center, at an angle.

Recipe Variations

This grilled chicken wrap recipe is terrific to customize! Here are a few ways you might want to change things up:

  • Seasonings – spice up the grilled chicken with garlic powder, cumin, and paprika, buffalo chicken seasoning, or chipotle seasoning before grilling
  • Tortillas – use flour, whole wheat, low carb, almond flour, or spinach tortillas
  • Protein – add cooked chopped bacon, fried chicken pieces, cooked rotisserie chicken, or our shredded chicken
  • Veggies – include sliced olives, pickled peppers, fresh bell peppers, red onion, corn, and cucumber slices… Just about anything you want!
  • Cheeses – swap shredded cheddar with shredded colby or Monterrey jack, pepper jack, crumbled goat cheese, or crumbled feta
  • Dressing – instead of Caesar you can use ranch dressing, thousand island, or blue cheese dressing

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you roll a wrap without breaking it?

Firstly, you want the tortilla to be slightly warm… Cold tortillas are more likely to rip. Briefly warm the tortillas in the microwave, only 5-10 seconds, so they are a bit more pliable.

The next important tip is: do not overload the wrap. While it might seem obvious, we can all use a reminder that sometimes less is more.

Are grilled chicken wraps good for you?

Yes, these are quite healthy. Lean grilled chicken is matched with your choice of toppings, so you can go as light or heavy as you like here! Load on the veggies for an equally tasty and nutritious lunch or dinner.

What do you serve with wraps?

Really, what doesn’t go well with these? Chips, french fries, and all kinds of fried things like onion rings, fried pickles, and air fryer tater tots. Wraps are also great with salads, from healthy crisp green salads to classic macaroni salad and potato salad… Basically, anything that you’d serve alongside a sandwich is good here!

Can you grill chicken in advance?

Yes! This recipe is perfect to make in advance as part of your weekly meal plan. Grill up a large batch of chicken and use it to prep 4-5 days worth of meal prepping. Prep all of the fresh veggies and store them in a separate container for up to a week.

How long do homemade wraps last in the fridge?

Wrap them up individually with plastic wrap, and keep them in the fridge for up to 5 days.
