  • Butter – unsalted
  • Garlic – peeled and minced
  • Lemon juice – fresh squeezed is best, but bottled will do in a pinch

Recipe ingredients: Stick of butter, whole lemon, whole head of garlic, fresh parsley, package of pappardelle pasta.

How to Make Garlic Butter Noodles

Set a large pot of salted water over high heat and bring to a boil. Once boiling, cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

While the pasta is cooking, set a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add the butter to the pan. Once the butter has fully melted, add in minced garlic. Sauté the garlic for 2 to 3 minutes to soften. Turn the heat down if needed so the garlic does not burn. Then add in lemon juice and stir.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you thicken garlic butter sauce?

In this recipe, we keep the sauce on the thinner side, so that it just coats the pasta. However, the butter will thicken a bit as it cooks down while sautéing the garlic – so you can keep cooking a bit longer to reduce the butter further if you like. It will also thicken up a bit on the pasta as the butter begins to cool down.

What does putting butter in noodles do?

The fattiness of butter is perfect for coating pasta and makes each noodle moist, flavorful, and decadent. It also keeps the pasta from sticking together!

How long do leftovers last?

This garlic butter noodles recipe is great for leftovers! Let the butter noodles cool completely before transferring them to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
