Sommer’s Recipe Notes

We are BIG fans of everything “buffalo” here! From Buffalo Chicken Salad and Mac and Cheese, to Buffalo Chicken Meatballs and Baked Chicken Breasts and so much more… We love inventing creative and delicious ways to enjoy our favorite Crispy Baked Buffalo Wings in all kinds of fabulous recipes!

You probably aren’t surprised to hear we have a crockpot version of buffalo chicken dip already on the site. Today, we’re sharing an easy Baked Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip recipe as another great option. You can set out the hot baking dish, with nice golden top, to serve it warm. Or serve at room temperature if that’s easier – it’s still amazingly tasty!

Why You’ll Love This Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip Recipe

  • Buffalo Wings in a Bowl – This dish gives you all that hot, delicious flavor you love in traditional wings, plus the richness of 3 cheeses and Ranch mix, but in a creamy dip that’s made for sharing!
  • Perfect Party Food – Serve Franks buffalo wing dip with plenty of crunchy chips and veggies at game day, movie night, or any casual gathering, and watch it disappear!
  • Stovetop Option – We love the taste, texture, and look of oven-baked dip. But it’s just as good and creamy warmed up on the stovetop! We show you how in the full recipe card below.

And bonus – no messy hands! Because this is a scoop-able dip versus traditional saucy chicken wings, guests can snack away without using every napkin in the house. Win!

Ingredients and Tips

  • Cheeses – We’re using 3 types of cheese here: Rich cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and crumbled blue cheese on top. The blue cheese is optional, but it really pulls the whole chicken wing vibe together.
  • Chopped Cooked Chicken -This recipe is a great way to use up leftover rotisserie chicken or shredded chicken!
  • Cayenne Pepper Sauce – Franks Red Hot is the best hot sauce for buffalo chicken dip, in my opinion. But you can use any similar spicy wing sauce you like!
  • Sour Cream – This gives the dip a signature tangy taste and creamy consistency, and helps to balance the spiciness from the hot sauce. You can use greek yogurt if you prefer!
  • Ranch Dressing Mix – The secret ingredient to give our baked buffalo chicken dip a boldly savory, vibrant flavor that really takes the taste to the next level of chicken wing-ness.
  • Scallions – We stir fresh chopped scallions right into the dip before baking, then add some extra on top for a nice pop of freshness!
  • Dippers – Serve with any kind of dipper you like. Consider celery sticks, carrot sticks, crackers, tortilla chips, potato chips, and more!
Ingredients you need on a cutting board: Package of cream cheese, cooked shredded chicken, bottle of Franks buffalo sauce, and chopped green onions.

How to Make Franks Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip

You only need about 30 minutes to whip up this wing dip in the oven! But you can even prep it ahead of time, cover the dish with plastic wrap, and store it in the fridge for a day or so. Then remove the wrap and bake per the recipe card.

Storage Notes

  • Storing Leftovers – Once cooled, transfer the dip to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
  • Freezing – I don’t recommend freezing chicken wing dip, as cream cheese-based dishes don’t tend to thaw and reheat well.
  • Reheating – You can reheat leftovers in the microwave. Or transfer them to an oven-safe dish and bake at 350 degrees for about 10-15 minutes.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the dip warm with all kinds of dippers like tortilla chips, pita chips, crostini, or fresh cut vegetables. This chicken wing dip stays saucy enough to even be served at room temperature!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use canned chicken instead of fresh?

Technically, yes, you can, but the flavor really is best using freshly cooked chicken (or cooked within the last day or two).

Can I halve this recipe?

Sure! As-is, this recipe makes 18 servings. Simply halve the ingredients and bake in a smaller dish to make 9-ish servings for a smaller crowd.
