Celery Juice Recipe
When I need a healthy reset, I love to drink this quick, hydrating recipe for celery juice. It’s a refreshing one-ingredient beverage easily made in the blender, in a matter of minutes. Every refreshing sip is packed with cleansing nutrients and antioxidants to kickstart my day.

Detox celery juice is a hot topic in the natural health arena, and I’ll be honest — usually, I’m skeptical of anything dubbed a miracle cure-all. However, as a mom of a daughter who had been sick for two solid years, I was willing to try anything to make her better. So, after dozens of doctors’ appointments, expensive tests, and specialists who offered no answers, we turned to natural healing to find a cure. That’s when we discovered veggie juices like this celery juice, the ginger shot recipe, and even my Mexican green juice. Obviously, I’m not a doctor, and you should definitely consult one with specific concerns. Yet from my research, there are many long-term health benefits of homemade celery juice — it reduces inflammation, supports gut health and digestion, helps prevent heart disease, and helps lower cholesterol and high blood pressure.
Joanie – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’m pain free and loving my life! A friend of mine showed me a juice she drinks in the morning, I started with that and found myself adding more celery to my juice than the juice she showed me. Now I’m totally a celery believer! I’m pain free, no more acid reflux, no more hot flashes, Ive lost inches, Ive noticed my energy level is higher, I get compliments on my complexion all the time no more anxiousness its changed my whole way of eating all for the better.

Sommer’s Recipe Highlights
Refreshing – Celery is loaded with water and natural salts (AKA electrolytes) on its own, so this drink is not only refreshing but it’s incredibly hydrating.
Simple – All you need to make this veggie drink is a blender. Simply blend, strain, and enjoy all the health benefits of celery juice.
Great Morning Ritual – I love to start my day off with a glass of this nutrient-packed celery juice. It wakes me up and gets me energized for the day ahead.
Key Ingredients and Tips
- Celery stalks – This is the star, and basically only ingredient, of this recipe. I always choose fresh, crunchy, and organic celery stalks for the best-tasting, healthiest outcome. If organic celery is unavailable or out of your price range, buy conventional fresh celery.
How To Make
Find the full recipe with ingredient proportions, detailed instructions, and a video tutorial in the printable form at the bottom of the post.
Wash the celery – The first thing I do is separate the celery stalks and give them a good wash. Sometimes celery has a little bit of dirt stuck to it, so it’s important to give it a thorough rinse. Then I shake off any excess water or pat it dry with a towel.
Trim the stalks – Next, I grab scissors or a sharp knife, and I trim off the leaves. These are bitter, so removing them creates the best flavor.

Chop – Once the celery stalks are prepped, I chop them into coarse chunks and throw them into the blender.

Blend – Now comes the fun part! Pulse, pulse, pulse! I blend the celery until the mixture is smooth.
Mesh – Once the celery is blended, I set a strainer over a measuring pitcher and pour the pulp into it.

Press – Once the juice has strained, I grab a spoon and press down onto the leftover pulp to squeeze out every last bit of that celery!

Recipe Variations
This green juice recipe is the most medicinal if you drink it as-is, pure 100% celery magic ingested on an empty stomach. However, if you need a little extra something to get it down, try…
- Lemon – Add in a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for a citrus note.
- Ginger – Use a chunk of fresh ginger for an extra kick.
- Cayenne pepper – Sprinkle in a slight dash of cayenne pepper for spiciness.
- Apple – Blend half of an apple to give the celery juice some sweetness.
Serving Suggestions
I like to serve this juice cold, first thing in the morning, to get all the juices flowing. Then, after 30 minutes or so, follow it with some of the following to make a nutritious breakfast:

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! This is the juicer I have. It’s great for cold-press juicing. But a friend of mine uses this less expensive one and loves it as well! Here’s another great, easy-clean juicer option. There are also inexpensive hand-powered models if you are on a tight budget. I bought this hand-crank juicer for travel, and it works very well!
You can add it to soups or smoothies, to give a boost of fiber and flavor. Or throw it in your composter.
Storing
I definitely recommend drinking celery juice right away, but you can also store it in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Make sure to shake before serving!

Instructions
- Separate and wash the celery stalks. Shake off any extra water.
- Cut the leaves off the top of the stalks. (Most of the bitterness comes from the leaves.)
- Roughly chop the celery into pieces. (If you have a Vitamix or BlendTech, you can probably cut the celery into 3-4 inch segments. Yet if you are unsure how powerful your blender is, chop it smaller.)
- Place the chopped celery in the blender. Make sure the lid is on tight. Puree on high until the celery is smooth mush.
- Place the mesh strainer over the glass. Pour the celery pulp into the strainer and wait for the juice to separate down below.
- When it starts to slow, press the celery pulp with your hand (or a spoon) to squeeze out all the juice. Discard the pulp.

Thank you for sharing, i feel i will be free of my lupus if i start to drink celery juice, but my problem is celery in our place is very expensive for me as i am struggling financially and celery is hard to find as i have to travel 2 hours to reach the city from our home, but if i have the means i will definitely try it. Again thank you and God bless us all!
Why not grow your celery. Any vegetables that I like that are expensive, I grow them.

Took forever to get to the recipe, but thanks for the info!
Hi, i was trying celery juice before read this article, it’s been almost 3weeks. Im still waiting by juicer coming, im using my vitamix blender(I’m ok with smoothie so I’m good too!) Usually 4 stalks with 2/3 apple in the morning , empty stomach. After about a week, my brain fog was almost disappeared(I was think it’s my destiny😮💨, couldn’t get any better) but now it’s gone. Mostly! Im a heavy wine drinker(not an alcoholic level) but my hangover mostly gone. It’s so weird indeed. Maybe my liver quality got healthier. Im 52 and getting symptom for degenerated arthritis so I was giving a try and still my symptoms are almost same but I will doing it. Ah, I’m having low dosage of aspirin too. I’m encouraging every of my friends and family for celery juice and hope everyone will having a great benefit from this mysterious green called ‘CELERY’ thank you for sharing your story!
Can this be frozen, or otherwise preserved for later use? I might like to try it in certain soup or stews that not supposed to be chunky
Hi Jan,
I suppose you could freeze it. It might alter the flavor a bit, but would be fine in soups.
That is so interesting, I sincerely hope that Ava is still enjoying the benefits of celery juice! My wife also has liver complaints and loads of symptoms which the doctors cannot pinpoint. I’m going to bookmark this page and try daily celery juice to see if we can also enjoy the benefits.
Thanks for the great article!
Hi Ramon,
Ava is doing great! We still drink celery juice every day, over two years later. It has helped us so much, we won’t give it up. :)
OK I will do it
I’m in tears finding this! Your daughter’s story is almost identical to mine. I’ve been going through this for 4 years, and while I’ve found some relief through extreme diet change and supplements, I’m still struggling. I ordered the book and I’m going to give this a try and see what happens! I would be in awe if all my allergies disappeared! Thank you so much for sharing this. After all the dead ends with doctors and tests I’m just so grateful to have an idea to try. Thank you!!
Hi Bridgette,
I truly hope it helps you!
How long did it take to help your daughter? I have the same issues.
Hi Jennifer,
Sorry to hear that! Within several weeks Ava could tell it was helping her body heal. We took a trip to NYC about 5 months after she started drinking the celery juice, and she was able to eat gluten and dairy without any negative impact. It was truly a miracle to us!
appreciate well …. very interested and excited for the recipe….
Thank you for this! I’ve been juicing celery for six days now 4-6oz a day, and yesterday some lymph does in my neck swellled. I was having energy boosts but today I am fatigued, along with the swollen lymph. Just curious if you know of anyone else having these type of detox symptoms. Thinking about back off a little further.
