Celery Juice Recipe
When I need a healthy reset, I love to drink this quick, hydrating recipe for celery juice. It’s a refreshing one-ingredient beverage easily made in the blender, in a matter of minutes. Every refreshing sip is packed with cleansing nutrients and antioxidants to kickstart my day.

Detox celery juice is a hot topic in the natural health arena, and I’ll be honest — usually, I’m skeptical of anything dubbed a miracle cure-all. However, as a mom of a daughter who had been sick for two solid years, I was willing to try anything to make her better. So, after dozens of doctors’ appointments, expensive tests, and specialists who offered no answers, we turned to natural healing to find a cure. That’s when we discovered veggie juices like this celery juice, the ginger shot recipe, and even my Mexican green juice. Obviously, I’m not a doctor, and you should definitely consult one with specific concerns. Yet from my research, there are many long-term health benefits of homemade celery juice — it reduces inflammation, supports gut health and digestion, helps prevent heart disease, and helps lower cholesterol and high blood pressure.
Joanie – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’m pain free and loving my life! A friend of mine showed me a juice she drinks in the morning, I started with that and found myself adding more celery to my juice than the juice she showed me. Now I’m totally a celery believer! I’m pain free, no more acid reflux, no more hot flashes, Ive lost inches, Ive noticed my energy level is higher, I get compliments on my complexion all the time no more anxiousness its changed my whole way of eating all for the better.

Sommer’s Recipe Highlights
Refreshing – Celery is loaded with water and natural salts (AKA electrolytes) on its own, so this drink is not only refreshing but it’s incredibly hydrating.
Simple – All you need to make this veggie drink is a blender. Simply blend, strain, and enjoy all the health benefits of celery juice.
Great Morning Ritual – I love to start my day off with a glass of this nutrient-packed celery juice. It wakes me up and gets me energized for the day ahead.
Key Ingredients and Tips
- Celery stalks – This is the star, and basically only ingredient, of this recipe. I always choose fresh, crunchy, and organic celery stalks for the best-tasting, healthiest outcome. If organic celery is unavailable or out of your price range, buy conventional fresh celery.
How To Make
Find the full recipe with ingredient proportions, detailed instructions, and a video tutorial in the printable form at the bottom of the post.
Wash the celery – The first thing I do is separate the celery stalks and give them a good wash. Sometimes celery has a little bit of dirt stuck to it, so it’s important to give it a thorough rinse. Then I shake off any excess water or pat it dry with a towel.
Trim the stalks – Next, I grab scissors or a sharp knife, and I trim off the leaves. These are bitter, so removing them creates the best flavor.

Chop – Once the celery stalks are prepped, I chop them into coarse chunks and throw them into the blender.

Blend – Now comes the fun part! Pulse, pulse, pulse! I blend the celery until the mixture is smooth.
Mesh – Once the celery is blended, I set a strainer over a measuring pitcher and pour the pulp into it.

Press – Once the juice has strained, I grab a spoon and press down onto the leftover pulp to squeeze out every last bit of that celery!

Recipe Variations
This green juice recipe is the most medicinal if you drink it as-is, pure 100% celery magic ingested on an empty stomach. However, if you need a little extra something to get it down, try…
- Lemon – Add in a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for a citrus note.
- Ginger – Use a chunk of fresh ginger for an extra kick.
- Cayenne pepper – Sprinkle in a slight dash of cayenne pepper for spiciness.
- Apple – Blend half of an apple to give the celery juice some sweetness.
Serving Suggestions
I like to serve this juice cold, first thing in the morning, to get all the juices flowing. Then, after 30 minutes or so, follow it with some of the following to make a nutritious breakfast:

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! This is the juicer I have. It’s great for cold-press juicing. But a friend of mine uses this less expensive one and loves it as well! Here’s another great, easy-clean juicer option. There are also inexpensive hand-powered models if you are on a tight budget. I bought this hand-crank juicer for travel, and it works very well!
You can add it to soups or smoothies, to give a boost of fiber and flavor. Or throw it in your composter.
Storing
I definitely recommend drinking celery juice right away, but you can also store it in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Make sure to shake before serving!

Instructions
- Separate and wash the celery stalks. Shake off any extra water.
- Cut the leaves off the top of the stalks. (Most of the bitterness comes from the leaves.)
- Roughly chop the celery into pieces. (If you have a Vitamix or BlendTech, you can probably cut the celery into 3-4 inch segments. Yet if you are unsure how powerful your blender is, chop it smaller.)
- Place the chopped celery in the blender. Make sure the lid is on tight. Puree on high until the celery is smooth mush.
- Place the mesh strainer over the glass. Pour the celery pulp into the strainer and wait for the juice to separate down below.
- When it starts to slow, press the celery pulp with your hand (or a spoon) to squeeze out all the juice. Discard the pulp.

Thanks so much for the blender friendly recipe! Can’t wait to try! BUT, I would absolutely love to know where you got your sieve!
Hi Rachel,
I think that one came from Target. :) However, you can find them on Amazon, and online kitchen stores as well.
Can I drink coffee after I wait 30 minutes of drinking the celery juice.
Hi Mary,
Sure! The Medical Medium does have opinions about coffee, but we’ve been drinking it and have still seen major results.

Thanks for the posting about juice recipe.
How long does this have to be done for? Always? Or is there a rest period?
Hi Diane,
We have now been doing it for over 6 months and plan to drink it forever. :)
However, I think if you are trying to heal yourself from some illness, you could reduce how many times you drink it each week, once you feel healthy again.
Great post and clear instructions on how to make it with a blender. I prefer to use a juicer because its a little more efficient. If anyone is interests in other juicer recommendations, you can check out our post over at https://www.livesimplynatural.com/best-juicer-for-celery/ But the juicers recommended on this post is are top of the line pick as well. Thanks for the informative post!
Thank You! If I happen to make more than the 16oz – can I put in a sealed container (mason jar?) and put in fridge or will the benefits fade before the following morning??
Hi Susanne,
I sometimes make it the night before, if we have a really early start the next day. It is supposed to be BEST to drink it immediately, but lots of people make it in batches for 2-3 days.
why not eat the whole blended celery? Why only the juice????
Hi Gabby,
It would be really difficult to swallow a large glass of celery mush. If you read the post above, I explain all the medicinal qualities are in the juice itself, not in the fiber.
I am 100% signing up for this! Lord knows I have a lot of these things!
I’m so happy you credited the Medical Medium
Love this!!! I squeeze my celery juice through a dish cloth! Just place it over the fine mesh sieve, then once the most of the water has gone through, wrap it up and give it a squeeze!
