Serving Suggestions

Avocado sauce is the ideal topping for tacos! Ass avocado crema onto these Shredded Chicken Tacos, Corn Crusted Fish Tacos, Green Chile Steak Tacos, Crazy-Good Baja Fish Tacos and Instant Pot Perfect Carnitas.

Or keep things super simple with a corn or flour tortilla with your choice of cooked meat, and add a generous dollop of avocado cream sauce on top. And it’s delightful as an alternative (or additional) salad dressing on taco salads and burrito bowls.

It’s also a delicious sauce to enjoy on Crispy Patatas Bravas (Mexican Potatoes), Huevos Rancheros, Sopes, Pulled Pork Nachos, Shrimp Quesadillas, and Nacho Hot Dogs (yup, they’re a real thing and they are ah-may-zing)… The list goes on and on!

Plus, this creamy avocado sauce makes a terrific dip alongside tortilla chips and veggies for a tasty snack or party food.

Basically, you can use this fantastic crema to complement nearly any savory dish!

To get that lovely piped look, scoop the crema into a piping bag or a plastic zipper bag and snip the corner to make a tip. Gently squeeze as you zig-zag from one end of the dish to the other. Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is avocado sauce the same as guacamole?

Not quite. While they are both use avocado as a base, crema and guacamole are very different. Guacamole is purely mashed avocado with lime juice and spices (and sometimes other goodies, too). Avocado cream sauce includes sour cream as well, so it’s super rich and, well, creamy!

Can I freeze avocado cream sauce?

I don’t recommend freezing this sauce. While you technically can, the texture will be way off after thawing.

Can I use a blender instead of a food processor?

Yes! Just make sure not to over blend because the crema will lose its ideal texture.

What if my avocados aren’t fully ripe?

For the tastiest avocado crema, use ripe avocados. If your avocados aren’t ripe, then I recommend waiting a bit until they ripen. Otherwise, the crema won’t have that smooth consistency and tasty.
