Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry thawed
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 Pinch salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Set out a baking sheet and line it with parchment paper.
- Set out a small baking dish and combine the sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well.
- Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a clean work surface. Cut the square in half. Then cut each half in 12 narrow strips. (I find it’s easiest to do this with a pizza cutter.) You should have 24 strips, about ½ X 5 inches long.
- Lay out two strips of the time. Fold the strips over lengthwise to make very thin, yet fatter, ribbons of pastry dough. Then twist the two strips together.
- Place the twisted pastry in the cinnamon sugar and shake to coat. Lay on the parchment paper. Twist and coat the rest of the puff pastry strips creating 12 cinnamon twists total. Spread them out on the baking sheet 1 ½ to 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10 to 14 minutes until very puffy and golden.
- Once out of the oven, shake the cinnamon twists in the cinnamon sugar a second time to give them a fresh coating. Served warm or at room temperature.
