ORANGE CLOVE HOT TODDY

Every holiday season my family keeps bowls filled with clove-studded oranges all over the house. The smell is something I crave when it gets cold, and I tried to replicate that with this warm, rich orange clove hot toddy.

Orange Clove Hot Toddy

Bright and festive hot toddy recipe. The Orange Clove Hot Toddy is a great beverage to serve at holiday gatherings this year.
Servings: 1 drink

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces aged rum
  • 1 ounce fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce clove syrup (see recipe below)

Instructions

  • For clove syrup: In a saucepan combine 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of water, and 8 whole cloves. Place pot over medium heat and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. Once the syrup has cooled completely, remove the cloves.
  • Combine all ingredients in a heatproof mug. Add hot water to fill up the glass, and stir.
