A note from Erin…
ORANGE CLOVE HOT TODDY
Every holiday season my family keeps bowls filled with clove-studded oranges all over the house. The smell is something I crave when it gets cold, and I tried to replicate that with this warm, rich orange clove hot toddy.
Orange Clove Hot Toddy
- 2 ounces aged rum
- 1 ounce fresh squeezed orange juice
- ½ ounce clove syrup (see recipe below)
- For clove syrup: In a sauce pan combine ½ cup of sugar, ½ cup of water, and 8 whole cloves. Place pot over medium heat and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. Once the syrup has cooled completely, remove the cloves.
- Combine all ingredients in a heatproof mug. Add hot water to fill up the glass, and stir.
