Chocolate Dip

Today, we’re making the easiest Chocolate Dip AKA Nutella Chocolate Fondue with just two simple ingredients: chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella) and cream.

Yes, you read that right.

Now, I realize that a normal chocolate fondue recipe only has a few more ingredients than this, but my quickie version melts fast and features the added nutty, rich flavor from hazelnuts… it seems so impressive but is incredibly easy to make at home! That is what makes this the best chocolate fondue recipe out there.

You’ve got to try this chocolate fondue recipe for yourself.

Effortlessly whip up a batch of this decadent, creamy, sweet and nutty chocolate Nutella fondue for any occasion, and you’re sure to be the hostess with the most-est!

If you happen to have a jar of Nutella tucked away in the pantry (I think we have about three half-eaten jars hiding around the kitchen at any given moment) and cream in the fridge for your morning coffee, you’re all set! That is all you need to make the perfect chocolate fondue!

How to Make Chocolate Dip

I feel like this gets said a lot, but you really won’t believe how easy it is to make this chocolate fondue recipe! But it is true: with just 2 ingredients you can create absolute dessert magic!

Here are the 2 ingredients you need to make Chocolate Fondue:

  • Chocolate-hazelnut spread, such as Nutella
  • Heavy cream (heavy whipping cream)

That. Is. It!

Not only does this recipe only require 2 ingredients, but you’re also only 2 steps away from turning chocolate hazelnut spread and cream into perfectly silky and sweet chocolate fondue!

How to make the easiest Chocolate Fondue ever:

  1. Add the Nutella and heavy cream to a small saucepan or pot.
  2. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring continuously, until completely combined and warmed to a dip-able liquid.
  3. Serve in your favorite bowl or fondue pot!

Quickly mix together this sweet fondue and serve with cookies, fruit, or pound cake for dipping. My absolute favorite fruits to enjoy with dessert fondue are strawberries and bananas, but get creative with whatever is seasonal!

You could also pour this Nutella fondue over ice cream as a luxurious chocolate sauce.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does This Dip Keep Well in the Refrigerator?

Yes, it does! You can store leftovers of nutella fondue in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Once cold the chocolate will solidify, but you can easily reheat it on the stove by scooping back into a small saucepan and continuing to stir over medium-high heat until liquid once again.

Can you Freeze This Chocolate Fondue?

Because of the heavy cream, I would not recommend freezing leftover nutella fondue. Not all dairy products freeze and thaw well.

Can this Chocolate and Hazelnut Fondue be Made Vegan?

Absolutely. There are several brands that offer vegan chocolate hazelnut spread options, or you can try making your own at home with this Vegan and Paleo Nutella from 40 Aprons.

For a vegan heavy cream replacement, you can substitute cashew cream or a blend of equal parts silken tofu and soy milk to achieve the same smooth texture.

By making vegan, this fondue recipe also becomes approved for a Paleo diet!

What Would You Pair With This Chocolate Dip?

There are so many possibilities of dippers for this kind of dessert: marshmallows, pretzels, pineapple, oranges, Rice Krispie treats, graham crackers, Oreos, potato chips, mango, biscotti, pears, apples, angel food cake, raspberries, or blackberries. The possibilities are endless!
