Weekend Cocktails are back with this vivacious Blood Orange Caipirinha Recipe. It’s hot pink and bursting with fresh citrus flavor!
Who doesn’t love sipping on a light perky beverage for spring?
Thankfully, today we have another marvelous weekend cocktail contribution from Erin Hawley, one of our favorite mixologists in Asheville, NC. She has hooked us up with a new creation, her Blood Orange Caipirinha Recipe. It’s is bold fresh take on a latin classic!
A Note from Erin…
Blood Orange Caipirinha Recipe:Â This cocktail is a great way to highlight blood oranges, a sweet, delicious citrus fruit. The Caipirinha is the national cocktail of Brazil. It’s traditionally made with Cachaca (a spirit similar to rum, but in this case the sugarcane juice is fermented before distillation), lime, and sugar. Here, I swapped out the lime for blood orange making the drink slightly sweeter and a hint of bitterness.
Blood Orange Caipirinha Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 ounces Cachaca
- 2 teaspoons superfine sugar
- 1/2 a blood orange cut into wedges
Instructions
- Muddle the orange wedges and sugar together in a cocktail shaker. Add the Cachaca and shake with ice.
- Strain into a glass over ice, or pour the entire shaken contents (fruit and all) into a glass. It's important to use the whole fruit and not just juice to get the oils from the skin. Garnish with a blood orange slice.

I fell in love with Caipirinhas in the Dominican Republic–I so adore the overwhelming lime flavor but I’m willing to give this a try! So pretty :)
Gorgeous!
