Mint Oreos Are Everything

Lt. Dan has ordered Oreo Mint Milkshakes at a local burger joint for as long as I can remember.

They always start by making him a mint chip milkshake, then mixing in crumbled Oreo cookies at the end… Such a winning combination.

Just a couple of weeks ago I noticed Mint Oreos on the grocery store shelves.

My mind went wild with tempting Oreo-Mint recipe ideas. Besides milkshakes, there are many minty holiday treats that could use a little Oreo crunch, in my opinion.

How To Make This Mint Oreo Chocolate Bark

To make this Mint Oreo Chocolate Bark Recipe is as simple as counting to three.

  1. Melt the milk chocolate in the microwave (or in a double broiler) until it comes out smooth and spread it out thin on a piece of wax paper. A great thickness is about ⅛ of an inch layer.
  2. Then before it dries, sprinkle chunks of Mint Oreos and Andes Mints over the top, that you took the time to chop up before melting the chocolate.
  3. Once it dries, cut the Mint Oreo Chocolate Bark recipe into perfect bite sizes or slightly bigger pieces to place in a snack gift bag for gifting!

This is possibly the simplest chocolate bark recipe I’ve ever made, and probably the tastiest!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it matter what kind of chocolate I use?

You can use any kind of chocolate you like, but I feel milk chocolate offers a nice contrast to the dark chocolate flavor of the Oreos. You get a double-mint flavor from both the Oreos and the Andes, so there is no need to add flavor extracts.

How long does this homemade chocolate bark last?

You can store this recipe in an airtight container for the fridge for 2 to 3 weeks or you can keep it a room temperature for up to 5 days.

Should I temper the chocolate?

There are definitely some benefits to tempering chocolate for confectionery uses. The heating and cooling of the chocolate helps to make it smooth and the chocolate will have a more glossy finish that can help the chocolate from melting when you hold it.

However, tempering is a more complicated process, and it is not actually necessary in this recipe.
