Top 10 Gifts for Cooks + Giveaway

If you haven’t planned your holiday gift list, it’s probably time to get started. For those of you who need a sign, or a little push… BOOSH. Here it is! Today I’m sharing my top 10 list of gifts for the cook in your house, and offering an awesome giveaway to boot!

Best Gifts for Cooks #holidays #holidaygifts #cooking #christmas

The cook in your household is a very special person.

They spend countless hours meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking, and cleaning, to make their family happy. They pour creative energy and passion into dish after dish, as a silent “I love you” to all who partake.

Don’t they deserve to be spoiled this holiday season? …I think so.

So today I offer you my list of fun and useful kitchen gifts for your special cook. And if that cook happens to be YOU, then forward this post onto your special somebody and tell them I made you do it. *wink*

These items are in random order, but are all things you either need or really want, if you cook a lot!

Gifts for Cooks

Well-Made Knives

Every cook needs good knives. Whether you start by purchasing one classic chef’s knife, or bite the bullet and buy a full set, this is probably the most important kitchen tool out there. Good knives not only protect your beloved cook, they relieve dull-knife stress, increase prep speed, and increase precision.

No matter what brand you’re into, good knives are a must-have kitchen item. $$$

Easy to Clean Cutting Board

I have nearly every type of cutting board out there:  custom-made wood blocks, bamboo, silicone, plastic… and Epicurean Cutting Boards are my favorite. Although they’re nothing special to look at, they are made of compressed paper product that is eco-friendly, easy on your knives, maintenance free, and DISHWASHER safe. So you can cut anything you like on them and then pop them in the dishwasher to sanitize.

I’ll take that over a pretty cutting board any day of the week! $-$$

If your special cook, is also a baker… you know what they want.

A bright shiny KitchenAid Mixer would make any cook beam with delight Christmas morning. Not only do they look lovely sitting out on your kitchen counter top, they beat like nobody’s business and have many optional attachments to make other cooking tasks easy. Like slicing, grinding meat, making ice cream, or even pasta. The pasta attachment is my favorite! $$$

Fondue Pot

Call me crazy, but I’m a big believer in the fondue pot. Especially if your favorite cook loves to throw parties!

We pull ours out several times a year, to serve molten cheese or chocolate. And every time we do it, our friends talk about “the night of fondue” for months after. There’s no better way to create intimacy at your gathering than bringing everyone in close to dip berries in a steaming pot of chocolate. $$

A Sassy Apron

Maybe this is more geared toward the ladies, but who wouldn’t want to look just as good as the food their preparing? A fun apron is always nice to have hanging around. $

Gifts for Cooks - Cute Apron #holidaygifts #giftideas #christmas

Decorative Beverage Dispenser

Another great idea for the cook who loves to entertain is a decorative beverage dispenser… or two. I love making flavored teas or cocktails to sit out at the drink station at parties. A pretty beverage dispenser not only makes the hosting job easier, it doubles as an eye-catching party decoration. Especially when the beverage is garnished with fruit and herbs. $-$$

Cream Whipper

I bet your special cook doesn’t have their very own hand-held cream whipper. This fun little kitchen tool makes it easy to experiment with flavored whipped creams for desserts and beverages. $

Gifts for Cooks - Cream Whipper #holidaygifts #giftideas #christmas

Waffle Maker

Maybe I’m adding this to the list, because I hoping Lt. Dan will buy me a new waffle maker this year! (My old waffle iron is on its last leg.) Breakfast is never as fun as when waffles are served We’ve also used ours to make savory waffles for waffle sandwiches, dessert waffles, and appetizer waffles just for kicks! $-$$$

Food Scale

Maybe its not a sexy gift, but kitchen scales are uber useful to the serious cook. I pull mine out several times a week when needing accurate measuring in baking, or just wanting to get a better idea on portion sizes.

I like this one because it’s easy to clean and can weigh over 100 lbs of food at a time. Not that I’m ever measure that much, but it does come in handy when we bring home bushels of fresh apples and farmers market finds. $-$$

Kitchen Torch

Nothing says I love you like a flaming creme brûlée torch to caramelize sugar and meringue. $

In my stocking I’d love to get a set of knives…I had a roommate that loved to cook and he had a great knife set which I got to enjoy for the past 2 years..thus I have been spoiled…I had never experienced what “real” knives can do before that. Well…when he left he took the knives with him!!!! Get my point (all puns intended)…I have been left with my old dull knives that simply don’t get the job done – Santa please help me so I will no longer carry the title of the “dullest knife in the drawer” – Thank you, Merry Christmas!
