If you liked last week’s post on 5 Easy Halloween Treats Made with Brownie Bites today’s ideas will be right up your alley.

My twelve year old Ava has been fervently working with me to create unique kid-friendly Halloween Treats this fall. She has made it her goal to ensure that all of the treats I share on ASP this season can be made by children… And are cute.

Cuteness is high priority for tweens.

We decided this year, instead of intense baking projects we wanted to share treats that can be made in minutes, involving some premade ingredients.

We figured if your Halloween is anything like ours, you’ll be spending your day paintings faces, hanging creepy decorations, and making sure you bought enough candy to hand out, with little time to bake elaborate treats.

Ava would like me to convey that if you have kids, they are very capable of taking over the treat preparation. Not only are they capable, they probably want to.

Yet if you don’t have handy little helpers at home, the ideas we came up with are so easy you can make them the day before in no time.

She’s a keeper.

Simple Steps:

  1. For each broomstick use one Pirouette Cookie and two licorice laces. Cut a 4 inch section of licorice off to tie the bristles and set aside. Then circle the rest of the licorice laces around 3 fingers and cut them at the top and bottom to create even bristles.
  2. Lay the licorice “tie” out straight and place the bristles across it close to the tops. Then place the pirouette cookie over the tie piece close to the bottom. Pick up the ends of the tie piece and gently pull together so that the bristles surround the bottom of the pirouette cookie. Tie the long piece of licorice in a knot, as tightly as you can without breaking it.
  3. Adjust and trim the bristles as needed.

Simple Steps:

  1. Press two salt water taffy candies together for each foot. (You can use any color/flavor of taffy for the boots.) Roll them into a log, then fold into an L shape. Use a toothpick to make an indention in the bottom of the L to form a boot heel.
  2. Insert a toothpick into one end of each Pirouette Cookie. Press the taffy boots onto the exposed toothpicks. Place the finished legs on a wax paper lined baking sheet and refrigerate to set. While the boots are warm and pliable they will slouch off the toothpicks. Once they have chilled and set again, they will keep their shape.
